Playing with a new Deck

Opportunity is a funny thing. To some, it's dealt. It presents itself in the actions of others - like a job posting. To others, it is an idea, researched, created, explored. Right now, all those apply, plus one—the Opportunity created by force, and without precedent. The key to this dramatic event's impact on our entire existence is in our minds.  

We will handle this viral situation per the personality, history, and education we have. But, there is one spot where we will all meet, and that is at the point of decision. How you fare will be significantly influenced by the choice you make to move forward (or not), the fact is regardless of whether you feel as if you've gotten a bad hand, your decision and purpose moving forward will define your results.

During my "social distancing," I've had time to catch up on books in my stash, I came across Steven Hawkings', "A Brief History of Time" (1988). Ironically, I feel as my office could fit as a newly discovered black hole, but my point about Steven Hawkings is much more profound.
In a posting to the Guardian written at the time of Dr. Hawkings' death,  Roger Penrose wrote on Wed 14 Mar 2018: "Hawking had been diagnosed shortly after his 21st birthday as suffering from an unspecified incurable disease, which was then identified as the fatal degenerative motor neurone disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS." And he continues, "Soon afterwards, rather than succumbing to depression, as others might have done, he began to set his sights on some of the most fundamental questions concerning the physical nature of the universe. In due course, he would achieve extraordinary successes against the severest physical disabilities. Defying established medical opinion, he managed to live another 55 years." 

It is evident in his extremely significant work and gifts to science and understanding. The decision to persevere on his path provided a half-century to his life beyond what professionals expected. Easy, No - Profound, Yes.
